"We, the football players of the Big Ten, together with the fans and supporters of college football, request that the Big Ten Conference immediately reinstate the 2020 football season".

The Big Ten Conference has voted to postpone their 2020 fall football season, with hopes to play in the spring.

The letter states the belief that the cancellation decision was made "in haste" and that additional time should be taken to at least reconsider.

But for Fields and many others, they still have their sights set on fall football in the Big Ten. It is addressed to Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren, Big Ten university presidents, and Big Ten athletic directors. They want to play football. He goes on to say that he believes the players should be able to make decisions about what is best for their health and their future. Our sons work extremely hard for the opportunity to play and fully understand the risks involved when they step on the field.

As of noon Sunday, the petition has already collected over 10,000 signatures, and it's headed for many, many more.

Fields tweeted Sunday that "this cause is close to my heart" and urged people to sign the petition. Get in on the conversation about Ohio State athletics by joining the Buckeyes Wire Forum.
